Case of the Missing Leash

After Donna and I returned home from an afternoon of grocery shopping, Widget came to the front door. This wasn't the first time Widget got loose, and will likely not be the last. When I went to put him back on his leash in the backyard I couldn't. Now here's a real puzzle, his twenty foot cable leash is gone.

Widget at 20 feet

Usually when Widget gets free he's broken his leash's clasp on one end or another. Widget really wants to chase cats. So much so he's grown into a powerful little dog, and has broken many a leash clasp.

I took him on a little walk to learn where he might have went, but nothing turned up.

We're hoping someone saw this little black dog running around trailing 20 foot of cable and unclipped him from it. Thus letting him to run home. If so thank you.

But here's something that gets our Tru.tv watching selves wondering. We found an unknown footprint in our backyard near Widget's leash tie.

Unknown Footprint

Hmmmm.

For now, Widget is on his backup nylon leash. It's a lot shorter than the cable leash. I'll need to get him a new one real soon. Widget loves to run, and having him on a short leash just isn't good for him. We would love to have a fenced in backyard where he could run and run. That will have to wait until we can afford a new fence. I don't think we have enough room to build him and Coco a "dog run". I'll have to think on that.
