I've posted this trick once before, back when Firefox 2 came out. Firefox makes it very easy to Right Click Search.
This tip, however, is specific to one tool I use quite a bit, Twitter Search. Until Twitter properly adds support for their acquired search service on the Twitter site, you'll have to visit http://search.twitter.com manually. There isn't even a link to Twitter Search from Twitter proper.
Many 3rd party Twitter clients have already integrated Twitter Search. If you see what is called a hash tag, something with # in front of it like #OKice, you'll often find it links to Twitter Search.
Now suppose you're at the Twitter site and you'd like to follow a topic like the #OKice example. The long way would be to visit Twitter Search and type in #OKice. Easy enough, but wouldn't you just love to keep your hand on the mouse and not have to type anything? Well there is a way with Firefox.
First you'll need to visit Twitter Search and find the link "Install Search Plugin". This will add Twitter Search to your search box in the upper right corner of Firefox. That's it. That's just about all you need to do. Any time you want to search for something being talked about on Twitter, just type it in the search box and hit enter.
Now wait a moment, didn't you say leave your hand on your mouse?
Ah yes I did. Now here's the real trick. Highlight a word, right click, and "Search Twitter for...". That's it. On the fly searching.
I'm sure many Firefox power users out there are probably yelling, "Hey there's a GreaseMonkey script out there to link up # on Twitter!" Well yes there probably is, but what I like about this solution is I don't have to rely on hash tags to Twitter Search.
Of course not only does this search tip work for Twitter Search, but it works for any search engine you've installed. Select which search you want to use, and any right click will be tied to that selection.
