I posted this over at Blog Oklahoma today.
Can some one explain this? For the last few months I've only seen an average of 20 people viewing any given Facebook post when I have a possible viewing pool of over 300 people.
Granted I don't expect to see 300 people viewing any given post at any given time, but an average between 50 to 100 seems more reasonable to me. And up until roughly last October I was seeing that.
What's changed at Facebook to lower viewer counts?
Is it because I don't have very many likes or comments on any given post? It's kind of hard to get likes or comments when your posts aren't seen. And honestly the majority of the Blog Oklahoma posts are new member notices, but even those were getting more than 40 views last October.
Is it because Facebook is forcing "Promote Your Post"? Blog Oklahoma isn't a business, so paying to post is something that is just not going to happen.
At this point it's almost not worth the effort to maintain the Blog Oklahoma Facebook page, beyond just echoing posts from Twitter. Blog Oklahoma has more followers on Twitter and a growing circle on Google+. I can easily focus my time there instead.
So what to do? What advice can you give to make Blog Oklahoma's Facebook page more useful to the Blog Oklahoma community? Or should I just give up and focus my time on the other social spaces?
