Okay I've only been using Textpad for a few years now, and you'd think I'd how to use it. Well today I just discovered a powerful new tool.

I had a text file with over 160,000 lines in it, and I wanted to pull out every line that had a keyword in it.
  1. Click on the "Find" button and type in your keyword.

  2. Then click the "Mark All" button. This will bookmark every line where the keyword was found.

  3. Click on the "Edit" menu item, and select and click on "Delete". You should see another popup menu.

  4. Click on "Bookmarked Lines". This will delete, very quickly I might add, all of the bookmarked lines.

Now suppose you want to remove everything but those lines with the keyword.
  1. Bookmark all the lines with the keyword as above (#1-#2).

  2. Click on the "Search" menu item, and select and click on "Invert Bookmarks". You will see everything but the lines with the keyword bookmarked.

  3. Follow the rest of the steps (#3 - #4).
You say you would rather Cut or Copy instead of Delete? Inside the "Edit" menu you will find the exact same options as Delete.

Put this one on the learn something new every day list.
