Not a lot happened at the office while I was on vacation. Which is good, but I still needed to catch up with email and a few tasks that have been delayed. Most of which I just finished up before I started typing this. Ha.
What did I learn on my vacation? That work doesn’t disconnect when you don’t. While I was on vacation I still received work related email. This was a mistake. I’m not in the type of profession that requires 24/7 access. Work related email and other communication should be off when you’re not at the office. Especially when you’re on vacation. So last Wednesday I logged my phone off from my work accounts, and I was able to rest for the rest of the week. On thinking about it, I might just do this every weekend too. If anything critical happens, my coworkers know how to get hold of me.
Note: The Gmail app actually makes it quite easy to turn on and off email notifications. Click on Manage Accounts found on the bottom of the accounts pane, and turn on/off the account. Simple.

Donna doesn’t go back to work until Wednesday night. So she gets a few more days to catch up with her reading. It was a good stay at home vacation. It was great to have both of us on the same schedule even if it was just for a week. I think the next time we go on vacation though, we’ll actually go somewhere for a few days. When it’s not 100 degrees outside of course. Ha.
Well vacation time is over and it's back to my regular work schedule. Still working on some exciting IoT things and I need to do a little Braintree research to make automatic payments work for a client. Oh Braintree is working like it should, they would like to just skip a step to save a little processing time.
Well back to it then.
More later. Time to code.
