Today, I finished the Hammer Films Frankenstein movies with The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958), and Frankenstein Created Women (1967). I had to hop around streaming services to find each one.
Both Curse and Revenge are quite good. There was good continuity between these two movies. The others don’t follow a storyline per se but could be considered stand-alone stories about Barron Frankenstein. Especially The Horror of Frankenstein (1970), which isn’t part of the Peter Cushing series but a reboot of sorts (you can skip it). Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974) is the last in the Cushing movies and one of his best performances as the Barron, but the story kind of rehashed the whole series.
I think I’m done with Hammer Films for this spooky season. Now I wonder what movies I’ll take on next.
More later. Time to dig into the guides.
