Curse of the Demon
Found out today that my bank’s drive-thru doesn’t open until 9AM. Well, at least that financial issue has been handled. It turned out to be a nice, relaxing Saturday. Friday’s frustrations and worries just weren’t present. I did do some laundry, but in a way that was relaxing too. Checked out a terrific short documentary about Radio Paradise: Music Was Never Meant to Be an Algorithm. And the typical YouTube watching, video game playing, and audiobook listening Saturday afternoon
Tonight Donna and I watched Curse of the Demon on Tubi. I’ve never seen it before. It was enjoyable. It’s a British-style horror movie, so it’s a little bit slower. But it wasn’t a slow-burn; you get right into the story. The demon effects were pretty good too. It was a tale of a skeptic vs. the supernatural. Niall MacGinnis plays the adversary, Doctor Julian Karswell, a practitioner of the dark arts. His performance was great. Dana Andrews plays John Holden, an American psychologist who traveled to the UK to investigate Karswell. I won’t go into much more detail; I don’t want to spoil it.
So how did Curse of the Demon make it onto our Spooky Season movie list? It was mentioned in the Science Fiction Double Feature: “Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes, and passing them used lots of skills”.
